Dear Anna,
Your Fringe experience sounds like the kind of artistic existence I wish was a sustainable reality. I used to think that when I moved to New York, I would live in that kind of frenzied bohemia with the kind of rich, creative energy that sustains you even when you don’t have enough money for food. I imagined myself living in a loft that was somewhere between a warehouse and a tree fort. I fancied living with all kinds of artists in the constant hum of creation. But all those cavernous spaces I used to think would belong to me and my imagination can only be afforded by luxury stores and billionaire bachelors. Thank goodness for festivals like The Fringe that can still explode reality and make us feel so thoroughly alive.
As for Playing With Fire - it's out of my hands now. I am so proud of the cast, but there is a huge technical element of the show that I cannot control, nor speak for, nor determine the effectiveness of. We go back to the space tomorrow and I'm sure much will be revealed.
Can't wait to see you!!!!!!!!!
